  Here are some important facts you need to know for this trip.

Local Customs and Information

S         The population of Benin is approximately 80% Catholic and 90% believers in Voodoo.  We will be visiting   temples, shrines and churches during our visit.  We request that participants dress appropriately for these settings.  It will be hot and humid during this trip.  Lightweight, cool clothing is recommended.  The colonial language is French and the local African languages are Mina, Ewe and Fon.   Translations will be available for all sessions.

           Selective photography will be permitted; however, we request that it be done in a respectful and non-disruptive manner.  Photographs will not be permitted inside temples or religous shrines. 

           The Benin Marina Hotel is a 4 star hotel with a good business center (Internet connection) and telephone system, located on a beautiful beach in Cotonou. 

Compulsory Visas Requirements

Visas for the Republic of Benin and the Republic of Togo are required for this trip.  Visa fees are $100.00 for Benin and $100.00 for Togo. Visa forms can be accessed through the websites below or through the selected travel agency.  A valid passport, visa applications in duplicate, photos and visa fees are required to be sent to the separate embassies for processing.  We recommend the use of Express Mail, Fed Ex or DHL courier service for the safety of your passport.
