October 3, 2004 Day One
Depart from JFK International Airport in New York on South Africa Flight
No.SA 204 at 5:55 p.m. New York time direct to Dakar, Senegal, West Africa.
Monday,
October 4, 2004 Day Two
Your flight will
arrive in Dakar Senegal at 6:35 a.m. local time. Albay Travel Services,
agents of Africa First LLC, will meet and assist you through immigration and
customs desks, and transfer you to the beautiful and majestic Le Meridien
President, which
overlooks the Atlantic Ocean in Dakar, for check in.
Get yourself refreshed and prepared for orientation and the opening ceremony
of the conference which includes a
lunch
with the
President
of the
Republic of Senegal or his nominee.
Activities during this dinner will include familiarization of conference
delegates, a 90-minutes live show entitled "Markings of the Soul" to be
performed by Kerry O. Burns, a U.S. Actor/Writer, to create awareness about
the serious threat posed to the populations of the world by HIV/AIDS, and
the urgent need for its prevention and eradication. There will also be live
musical and cultural entertainments by Senegalese artists. Tickets will be

Tuesday -
October 5, 2004 Day Three
Today begins a full day pre-arranged International Conference and Exhibition
on Traditional Medicine under the theme "TRADITIONAL HEALING & HIV/AIDS" at
Hotel Meridien President. You will be issued with copy of the conference
agenda in advance of your departure to Senegal. Lunch and overnight at Le
Meridien President. B.L.
Wednesday -
October 6, 2004 Day Four
Today marks the second full day and the conclusion of International
Conference on Traditional Medicine in accordance with the conference program
in circulation. Lunch and overnight at Le Meridien President. B.L.
Thursday -
October 7, 2004 Day Five
After breakfast,
you will begin a full day city tour of Dakar. This tour will include the
Presidential Palace of the Government of Senegal, the Dantec Hospital, the
Government Principal Hospital, the IFAN Museum, the Sandaga Market, the
Silversmith shops on Avenue Blaise Diagne, the bustling Avenue Georges
Pompidou and wind up at the Soumbedioune Artists Market. Lunch will be
served at a local restaurant at some point during this tour.
There will be enough time
to do your shopping. Return to Le Meridien President for overnight at the
hotel. B.L.
Friday -
October 8, 2004 Day Six
After breakfast, you will be
transferred to the port of Dakar where you will embark a ferryboat, which
will take you from the port to the Island of Goree – the last frontier depot
where, many years ago, slaves were kept before they were shipped to the
Americas and Europe. Return to
Dakar,
to complete your last minute shopping and packing because today is your last
day at Le Meridien President.
Saturday -
October 9, 2004 Day Seven
After breakfast, you will be taken on an educational and scientific tour to
ENDA’S Centre de Formation En Sante & Developpement at Thierno Saidou Nourou
Tall. This tour will highlight activities of research and lectures on the
preparation and use of herbal medicine for preventive and curative
purposes. Lunch will be served. You will be
transferred to the
beautiful and sparkling beach resort - Hotel Saly Savana Koumba for the rest

Sunday -
October 10, 2004 Day Eight
After
orientation and
late
breakfast, you will be taken on another exciting scientific and traditional
field trip to PROMETRA’S Center for Experimental Traditional Medicine
(CEMETRA) in Fatick. This is a research center all scientists, researchers
and medical students visiting Senegal must not miss. It is staffed by 450
healers of the Association of Traditional Healers of the Sine Region
(Malango). It is equipped with a certified laboratory – the fourth largest
in Senegal. This center has served over 30,000 familes in that region of
Senegal alone. There will be animated traditional and spiritual expositions
performed by these healers. You will return to the hotel for a farewell
dinner and be transferred to Dakar International airport for late night
departure.
